Sunderland to face Everton in FA Cup quarter-finals
4:21pm Sunday 19th February 2012
SUNDERLAND will travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals following this afternoon's draw at Wembley.
Former Black Cats boss Peter Reid, who conducted the draw, ensured Martin O'Neill's side will face Premier League opposition for the second round in a row.
Sunderland are just one game away from an appearance at Wembley, but will have to end a lengthy jinx against Everton if they are to progress to the semi-finals.
The Black Cats have not won at Goodison Park since 1996 and have not enjoyed a win over Everton anywhere since 2001.
The quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18. As a result, Sunderland's scheduled Premier League trip to Blackburn Rovers will have to be rearranged.
The Black Cats booked their place in the last eight with a 2-0 win over Arsenal yesterday. Kieran Richardson broke the deadlock shortly before half-time, with an own goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubling their lead with 13 minutes left.
